The first Cup of Independence in benchpress and deadlift took place in in Tiraspol

As the head of the Tiraspol Powerlifting Federation Anatoly Semerenko noted, organizers held a debut tournament dedicated to the republic's 25th anniversary.

«The fact that the athletes from many countries came here emphasizes our recognition by colleagues," Anatoly Semerenko told. Besides, this event is a result of the federation's one-year-work.

153 athletes took part in competitions. As a result, Pridnestrovie's powerlifters were the leaders in a number of awards. It is notable that the athlets from Tiraspol get a better score among the veterans.

Vitaly Beloborodov was the best in deadlift, and Konstantin Velichinsky — in benchpress. The athletes from Bendery took the lead in an open age category. Vadim Chikanchi won in the deadlift, and Alexander Scherbakov — in the benchpress.
