The PMR President congratulated veteran Gromov on his birthday

Veteran of the Great Patriotic War Vladimir Ivanovich Gromov celebrated his birthday today. The birthday person turned 99 years old. He was personally congratulated by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the head of the capital's administration Ilona Tyuryaeva on the occasion of the hundredth year of life.

Vladimir Gromov began his front-line career in 1943. There was a military school First, then the 2nd Baltic Front, participation in the liberation of the Baltics and the liquidation of the Courland group of German troops, injury, breakthrough of enemy defenses in Latvia – in the area of the village of Jaunā muiža, for which the front-line machine gunner Guard Junior Sergeant Gromov was awarded the Order of Glory, 3rd degree. The merits of the participant in the Great Patriotic War were also noted by the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree, the medal "For the Victory over Germany", and other awards.

Congratulating Vladimir Ivanovich, the President emphasized his services to the Fatherland and every resident of the territories free from fascism and Nazism. “Time takes its toll, veterans pass away... We all remember when there were still so many of you, veterans. You marched in front of the column on all Victory Day holidays and laid flowers to your fallen comrades. There are only a few of you left, and you are one of the last veterans of that terrible but victorious Great Patriotic War. Vladimir Ivanovich, flowers, gifts – these are all nothing. The main thing is that you take care of yourself, so that we can celebrate your 100th anniversary with you and so on, so that you can be with us at events, so that people can see you. You connect time, you connect history. History with you is not just the history of the past, it is a living reality, it is today. Vladimir Ivanovich, I wish you health, long life. Take care of yourself and show by your example how it was necessary to defend your Motherland and how it was necessary to live on,” the President congratulated the birthday person veteran.
