The Pridnestrovian president calls on Moldova to jointly address the Dniester River pollution problem
Vadim Krasnoselsky proposes creating a joint commission with independent experts to objectively assess the river's condition

Tiraspol, December 23. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovian president Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke with the Pridnestrovian television channels` editors-in-chief, First Pridnestrovian and TSV channels. One of the key topics was the environmental situation on the Dniester River.
The head of state reported that for two years, Pridnestrovian sanitary services have been regularly sampling water from the Dniester at the terminal points of small rivers on the Moldovan side. Laboratory tests have recorded pollutant levels exceeding permissible limits by 200-250 times. However, there is no information yet on the presence and concentration of heavy metals, as relevant analyses have not been conducted, making it impossible to assess the true extent of the river’s pollution.
According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the current situation is caused by treatment facilities and wastewater disposal systems` ineffective operation in Moldova, resulting in wastewater flowing directly into the Dniester.
"When various commissions come to me—the European Commission, the OSCE Mission, individual ambassadors of Western states—I say: gentlemen, let's put all politics aside and not politicize this issue. What is being proposed? The creation of a joint commission, plus the involvement of independent experts. That is, it should include representatives of Pridnestrovie and Moldova, plus independent experts. Let the OSCE Mission and the European Union assist them," the PMR president explained.
The joint commission, according to Vadim Krasnoselsky, should be equipped with a modern laboratory capable of objectively assessing the actual state of the water in the Dniester.
"Once an objective view is obtained, it will be possible to develop an action plan—from allocating funds for the repair of existing treatment facilities to the construction of new ones," the head of state noted.
The president reported that Pridnestrovie had sent the Moldovan side all available materials, including the results of sanitary service tests. However, he said there had been no response.
Vadim Krasnoselsky's interview will be broadcast tonight on the First Pridnestrovian TV channel and TSV, you can also listen it on Radio 1 and read on the Novosti Pridnestrovya News Agency website and in the Pridnestrovie newspaper.
