Tiraspol, December 20. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Despite the extremely difficult economic situation, the state is fully fulfilling its social obligations, funding vital programs, and even providing support to industrial enterprises. Pridnestrovian president Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to the head of state, the energy crisis at the beginning of the year and its consequences, as well as Moldova's discriminatory attitude toward Pridnestrovian enterprises have had an extremely negative impact on all sectors of the Pridnestrovian economy.
"Industrial production has declined by almost 30% compared to last year," Vadim Krasnoselsky said. "The highest rates of decline in industrial output were observed in the electric power, chemical, ferrous metallurgy, mechanical engineering, metalworking, and light industry sectors. Since the beginning of the year, exports have fallen by 41.7%. The key factor, of course, was the cessation of electricity exports in 2025. However, other sectors have also seen significant declines. Imports have fallen by 19.2%. This doesn't include natural gas. Experts report that the foreign trade deficit has doubled. Again, this doesn't take into account fluctuations in gas supplies. Budget revenues are extremely limited. Nevertheless, the state is fulfilling its social obligations, implementing programs essential to the country's survival. Support is even being provided to industrial enterprises facing critical situations."
As a reminder, on January 1, due to unresolved financial relations between Gazprom and Moldovagaz and the cessation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine, gas supplies to Pridnestrovie ceased.
As a result, for over a month, gas supplies to industrial enterprises, rural communities, and private households in cities were cut off, along with heating and hot water supplies, and rolling blackouts. In February, thanks to assistance from the Russian Federation, gas supplies were restored through purchases on the European gas market.
However, due to difficulties with payment transactions within the European Union, gas supplies to Pridnestrovie are regularly blocked. This occurred in June and October 2025. Due to problems with natural gas supplies, on December 15, the president of the Pridnestrovian Republic announced the need to reinstate a state of economic emergency in the Pridnestrovian Republic.
